Main Purpose of Job:

This client-facing role, externally known as the Business Development Manager, Art & Design will join DBT HK and sit within the Creative and Consumer team. This role will be responsible for driving trade and investment in sectors including but not limited to Architecture, Graphic and Fashion Design, Art and Culture, Museums and Experience Economy.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Generation and Service Delivery (35%)

• Play a leading role in delivering against the team’s core KPI in trade and investment, trade shows & inward/outward missions

• .Identify and generate leads through various channels such as exhibitions, networking events, referrals, cold calling, and online research

• .Conduct market analysis to identify target markets, customer segments, and potential business opportunities

• .Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and drive business growth

• .Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling campaigns, promotional materials to attract potential clients

Client Relationship Management (35%)

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and partners to promote trade and investment opportunities

• .Understand the needs and requirements of clients and provide them with the most appropriate solution from the DBT offer

• .Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering insights and guidance on market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscapes

Market Research and Analysis (20%)

• Analyse market trends, competitive landscapes, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities

• .Provide regular reports and updates to management on market conditions, customer feedback, and competitor activities

• .Stay informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact business development strategies

• .Use data-driven approaches to identify potential target markets and customer segments

Cross-functional Collaboration and Support (10%)

• Collaborate with marketing teams to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns

• .Coordinate with other sector teams on cross-sector projects

• .Work closely with the Economic and Global Issues Team to understand government priorities and align business development strategies accordingly

Our Team:

• The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is the arm of the UK Government responsible for promoting UK trade across the world and encouraging inward investment

• Based in British Consulate-General Hong Kong, the DBT Hong Kong team works closely with the China team to oversee trade and investment promotion in Hong Kong and Macao. Find out more about us here.

• This role will report to the Associate Director, Creative & Consumer, and work closely with a Trade & Investment adviser to form a team of 4.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• Hold a higher diploma or above with minimum 3 years of relevant work experiences in sales/marketing/business development

• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal and communications skills

• Exhibit curiosity and interests in the aforementioned sectors, ability to learn quickly and a can-do attitude

Language Requirement:

• Highly proficient in the essential languages: English (written & spoken), Cantonese (spoken)

• Other desirable languages: Chinese (written), Mandarin (spoken)

• Demonstrate knowledge and connections on the aforementioned sectors
